First off, Idioteq.com, a favorite site of mine for music, is down. First Albumbase, then Demonoid, then this? no good. On the other side of this particular egg, is the new direction that music distribution is going. Many bands are using myspace, purevolume, last.fm, and similar sites to allow free listening, and sometimes downloading of their music. This has been going on for some time now. However, Radiohead's revolutionary internet sales allowed fans to pay any amount they wanted, including nothing, should they so choose. The band did extraordinarily with sales. Following this, last.fm is beta-testing a service where you can download full tracks from a huge library, Amazon has a feature where you can get free tracks, and many labels and bands are realizing that internet distribution is the wave of the future. only time will tell where this will go, but these are definitely good steps.
And back to the original topic, I hope Idioteq is ok.
